Former Cameron teacher accused of sex crimes enters not guilty plea
PLATTSBURG, Mo. —
A former Cameron, Missouri, high school teacher accused of videotaping children with a hidden camera inside his home entered a formal not guilty plea, through his attorney Monday.
William “Derek” Williams stood in a gray and white jumpsuit before a Clinton County judge for an arraignment on multiple felony charges of child pornography and statutory sodomy.
The former Cameron High School teacher and well-connected community volunteer is accused of capturing video of undressed minors at his home through a small hidden camera inside a cellphone charger.
At Monday’s court appearance, Williams’ wife sat in the back row and declined to comment after the hearing.
Williams’ next hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Feb. 7 at the Clinton County Courthouse. He is currently in jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
