The “chemist” friend of three Kansas City Chiefs fans found dead in a backyard more than a year ago and another man were booked on manslaughter charges Wednesday, according to authorities. Jordan Willis, whose home is where the grim discovery took place, and Ivory Carson were arrested in the deaths of Ricky Johnson Jr., 38, David Harrington, 37, and Clayton McGeeney, 36, Platte County prosecutors said.
The three friends died from a lethal combination of fentanyl and cocaine after the pals gathered to watch a Chiefs game on Jan. 7, 2024, Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd revealed during a press conference streamed on KMBC. Their bodies were found two days later outside in freezing temperatures. The two defendants are facing three counts each of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of delivering a controlled substance, officials said.
Two arrests have been made in connection with the deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs fans — David Harrington (second from left), Clayton McGeeney (second right) and Ricky Johnson (right) — who were found frozen at a watch party in Kansas City, Missouri, last year.Ricky Johnson / Facebook“This case is a tragic reminder of the dangers of street drugs,” Zahnd said. “But make no mistake, the people that supply those drugs can and will be held accountable when people overdose.”
Investigators found drugs in Willis’ home during a search of the property, including a bag of cocaine that mostly had Willis’ DNA on it and another bag of fentanyl, which had Carson’s DNA on it, he said.A witness told authorities he was at Harrington’s home with the three victims and Willis for the game when he saw a large plate of cocaine supplied by Willis for the rest of the group, according to a probable cause statement read by the prosecutor. The three dead friends and Willis then went to Willis’ home following the game later that night, where they drank, smoked marijuana and used cocaine, another pal told police, Zahnd said.
Court records obtained by Fox News Digital reveal that Jordan Willis (above) and Ivory J. Carson have been charged with three counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of delivery of a controlled substance. Platte County Sheriff's OfficePolice found messages on Harrington’s phone that indicated Carson allegedly supplied Harrington with cocaine, docs stated.
Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said the arrests are a message to drug dealers peddling fentanyl in the area.“You will be held accountable, you will be arrested and you will be charged,” she said during the press conference. Court records reveal that Carson (above), who went by “Blade Brown,” supplied and sold cocaine to Willis and the victims.
Willis’ defense lawyer, John Picerno, insisted he and his client were shocked by the charges.“The probable cause statement submitted by the state is consistent with what Jordan stated happened,” Picerno told the Kansas City Star.“Jordan maintains that he is not responsible for purchasing or supplying the drugs that led to the deaths of his three friends. We are very much looking forward to the day a jury gets to hear all of the evidence in this case.”
The case gained national attention last year as the men’s demise was shrouded in mystery, including how they could have been outside for two days without Willis noticing. His lawyer previously claimed Willis was unaware of his friends’ plight. A cousin of McGeeney told NewsNation last year that Willis was known as “the chemist.”“They all knew him as that,” Caleb McGeeney alleged. “It was easy for them to go have fun, but he f–ked up, he made a mistake.”
